How To : Get Location-Based Alerts for Android

iPad and iPhone can give you reminders on your mobile based on the geographic (physical) location. The  iOS 5 does this.

For example, you wish to buy a cake while returning from office and your favorite bakery is on the way or near about. You can set a reminder that when your car reaches near that market you will get a reminder to buy the cake. Or you wished to pick or drop something on the way to a friend’s house, you could set a reminder for that too.

You can achive the same thing on your Android phone using a free app called Location Alert.

It is quite simple to use. As it is integrated with Google Maps, just tap on a location in the map and set a reminder near that place. You have an option to create one time alerts or recurring ones. Eg you may want to pick flowers every Sunday while going to church. Best part is that you can set a radius range say 2 Km. Whenever you are within 2 Km of that location you will get an alert.

I have used it on multiple Android phones and it works fine. Go ahead and use it.
